St. John's United Church of Christ Planning Retreat Meeting Minutes

The following goals have not yet been finalized - they are only in the dream and consensus stage. They still need to be better defined, reviewed, and prioritized through consistory, and a master plan presented to the congregation.
Three Year Goals:
- Increase attendance by 100
- Increase weekly giving to achieve 200,000-250,000 annual budget
- Increase Sunday school participation by 30 people and three classes
- Develop plans for increased meeting space
- Upgrade physical plant consistent with Strategic Plan
- Increase paid staff by 3 (i.e. youth pastor)
- Hold Open and Affirming Church discussions
- Establish multiple worship services
- Increase teen participation by 20 people and youth pastor
Committee Goals
Christian Education:
- Prospective members list for Sunday School invitations
- Establish a monthly education caregiver
- Nametags***
- HVAC by 2006
- Summer Sunday School program
- Creative use of existing space
- Education facility (blueprints 2007 and construction started 2008)
- Paid Christian Education Director
- Evangelism & Membership
- Public Relations (I.e. news media, mass mailing, website)
- Promote congregational awareness of evangelism
- Re-start shepherding program
- Incorporate new and uninvolved members into ministries
- Maintain church attendance and visitor records (prospective membership list)
Fellowship
- Grow the committee to 14 members
- Fellowship every Sunday
- Upgrade the kitchen (i.e. larger, additional supplies, 2nd fridge, new dishwasher, ice machine)
- Larger fellowship area
Finance
- Raise the funds to support all the requests
Property
